Kids' Shoe Size Chart

Kids’ shoe sizes run on their own scales: C for child, Y for youth, and neither matches adult numbers. Enter your child’s foot length in centimetres, or their age, and the chart returns the matching US, UK, and EU sizes.

How to measure your child’s foot
  1. Place a blank sheet of paper on a hard floor, against a wall.
  2. Have your child stand on it with their heel touching the wall, wearing the socks they will use. Little ones may need help standing still.
  3. Mark the paper at the tip of their longest toe.
  4. Measure from the wall edge to the mark in centimetres. Do both feet and use the longer one.
  5. Leave a thumb’s width (about 1 cm) of growing room, then find the closest size in the chart.
Tables cross-checked · Last reviewed October 2026
Table follows Nike’s published kids’ footwear size chart (US C/Y, UK, CM/JP and EU columns), cross-checked against Stride Rite’s official sizing help (foot-length values agree within 0.1 cm). C = child (toddler/little-kid scale), Y = youth (big-kid scale); the C scale ends at 13C and the Y scale starts at 1Y. Age-based lookup uses Nike’s published age hints for 1C–7C (3 to 36 months) and is only an estimate: foot length is always the more accurate route, and kids’ feet grow fast, so re-measure every few months.

How to use the converter

  1. Choose how to look up the size: foot length in centimetres (the accurate route) or age (an estimate for babies and toddlers).
  2. To measure, stand your child on paper against a wall, mark the tip of the longest toe, and measure heel to mark in centimetres. Do both feet and use the longer one.
  3. Press Find size. The result shows the US size with its C or Y scale, plus the UK and EU equivalents.

Understanding your result

C marks the child scale for toddlers and little kids, running 1C to 13C. Y marks the youth scale for bigger kids, running 1Y to 7Y. They are separate scales with different zero points: a 13C is not a smaller 1Y, and neither maps onto adult numbers. The result always labels which scale it used.

Leave a thumb’s width, about 1 cm, of growing room when you pick a size, and re-measure every few months: kids’ feet grow in bursts, not gradually. Age lookup covers 3 to 36 months from the brand’s published hints and is only an estimate; foot length is always the better route.

Worked example

A parent measures a 14 cm foot on their four-year-old. They choose foot length, enter 14, and press Find size. The result: US 8C, UK 7.5, EU 25, following Nike’s published kids’ chart. They add a thumb’s width of growing room and confirm the brand’s chart before ordering.

How these tables were built: The table follows Nike’s published kids’ footwear size chart (US C/Y, UK, CM/JP, and EU columns), cross-checked against Stride Rite’s official sizing help: foot-length values for matching sizes agree within 0.1 cm. Two honest notes. Nike’s chart lists duplicate values in a few rows, so the tool picks the smaller row and shows a tie note rather than inventing a distinction. Age-based lookup uses Nike’s published age hints for 1C through 7C and is estimate-only; kids older than 36 months should be measured.

Frequently asked questions

What do C and Y mean in kids’ shoe sizes?

C is the child scale for toddlers and little kids, from 1C to 13C. Y is the youth scale for bigger kids, from 1Y to 7Y. They are different scales with different zero points, so a number like 8 means something different with a C than with a Y. The result always labels which scale it used.

When does my child move from C to Y sizes?

When they outgrow 13C, the next step is 1Y: the C scale ends there and the Y scale begins. There is no overlap or gap between the two; the tool labels every result so you always know which scale you are on.

How accurate is the age lookup?

It is an estimate for babies and toddlers, based on the brand’s published age hints for sizes 1C through 7C (3 to 36 months). Children the same age can differ by two full sizes, so measure the foot whenever you can. For kids older than 36 months, the tool directs you to foot length.

How often should I re-measure?

Every few months for growing kids, and always before buying a new pair after a growth spurt. A quick paper tracing takes two minutes and beats guessing from the last pair, which they may have outgrown.

Can I convert youth sizes to women’s sizes?

Roughly, but carefully: youth sizes overlap the small end of the adult scale, which is why youth pairs are sometimes bought as cheaper women’s equivalents. For the exact mapping, use the adult shoe size converter after finding the youth size here; the adult page handles the crossover logic.

Socks on or off when measuring?

Measure wearing the socks they will use with the shoes. Socks add real length, and kids’ shoes are usually worn with socks. Barefoot measuring works for sandals.
